Your initial appointment
Your initial tele-health appointment will be with Brandon Weinstock, PMHNP, and will last between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on your needs and schedule. Most initial appointments last an hour.
The appointment includes an assessment and membership registration. During this telehealth visit, we will thoroughly evaluate several aspects of mental health functioning, identify your goals and needs, diagnose any psychiatric conditions found, and provide you with appropriate medication recommendations. We will also make any recommendations for realistic, sustainable, non-medicinal interventions and, if appropriate, other treatment plans. Please have your current medication list handy during for your Initial appointment.
After your initial appointment
Upon completion of your initial assessment and registration appointment, you will get access to our patient portal, including a HIPAA-compliant messaging system that allows you to communicate directly with Good Vibes Psychiatry staff. You will also gain access to our scheduling calendar to set up your follow-up appointments. All appointment visits are via telehealth. In-person visits are available only for yearly specialty ADHD medication monitoring when required.
Treatment exclusions
Good Vibes Psychiatry does not offer intensive trauma-related therapy. Additionally, we do not prescribe long-term benzodiazepines. We are happy to review clinical rationale with you during any of your appointments. Some examples of benzodiazepines include and are not limited to:
- Alprazolam (Xanax)
- Diazepam (Valium)
- Dorazepam (Ativan)
- Clonazepam (Klonopin)
- Chlordiazepoxide (Librium)
- Oxazepam (Serax)
Membership
You may cancel your membership at any time; however, ongoing membership is required to continue receiving psychiatric medication management services from Good Vibes Psychiatry. Patients who choose to cancel their membership may be subject to a wait list when returning due to a limited number of memberships being available so we can maintain our high standards for service, communication, and appointment availability for all members.
Insurance and payments
We do not require insurance, and we do not accept insurance of any kind. That includes private, commercial, government, or any other type of coverage. We require a debit or credit card on file for the initial assessment, as well as monthly membership dues payments. Your insurance plan likely will cover any medications Good Vibes Psychiatry prescribes just as they would from any other office. We are happy to assist with prior authorizations (insurance company pre-approval) for medications when needed.
Ongoing therapy and treatment
Our members’ ongoing visits may include elements of supportive psychotherapy or other therapy modalities with a focus on time-efficient, realistic, and sustainable functional interventions. Membership does not include (nor do we currently offer) intensive trauma therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), or Brainspotting Therapy.
We reserve the right to refer patients to a higher level of care and/or additional services if needed. Patients who need more intensive psychotherapy find that we are a great supplement to their outside therapists because we are happy to provide the psychiatric medication management and functional/medical wellness interventions that therapy-only offices are unable to provide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are all the lab coats, and suits & ties?
Good Vibes Psychiatry is excited to add a little color to the sea of khaki, and we are happy to have the opportunity to provide an unstuffy option for patients seeking high-quality psychiatric medication management. We’re laid back, but we’re quite serious about the quality and integrity of our work and the care we offer our members.
Are there any evening or weekend appointments available?
Yes. We are happy to provide options for evening or weekend appointments.
Do you seen any patients outside of California?
We treat patients who live anywhere in California. We do not offer care in any other states at this time.
Are you fully licensed?
Oh yeah, we hold current permits, and are fully licensed, registered, certified, incorporated, and insured. Our prescriber’s professional license is verifiable on the appropriate California government website.
Do you see any patients in-person, or is it all tele-health?
Most of the care we offer is through telehealth. If certain medications require yearly in-person visits by law, we will schedule the visits with you at our office, at your home, or another convenient and private location.
We personalize our approach to care to meet your needs and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. If the COVID-era exceptions to the in-person requirements for certain ADHD medications are again extended, as they have been for the past few years, yearly in-person visits may not be required.
